The research of this lab is for quick and correct identification of agriculture/medical/veterinary important
insects underlying molecular biology technique i.e. DNA barcoding. Correct taxonomic identification of the
vectors, pests and pollinators, will be necessary for the proper management of those insects. The research
program will also deal with scientific techniques and equipments related to DNA barcoding.
Aims and Objectives:
1. Studying, sampling and identifying insects/other biological specimens using DNA barcoding technique.
2. Training on Molecular Biology Techniques will be arranged at regular basis for the undergraduate and
post graduate students of the Department of Zoology, Jahangirnagar University.
3. Training on the DNA barcoding will be arranged for the students of different
departments of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Jahangirnagar University and other Universities.
4. Research students/scholars will pursue their respective research for their M. Sc., M. Phil.
and Ph. D. degree utilizing facilities of this laboratory.
5. Scientific articles will be published contributing in the field of Molecular Biology.
6. Support to make quality graduates trained in molecular biology techniques who will be ready
to serve the mankind as a whole and Bangladesh in particular.
